Elspeth Tavares, founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of The Enterprise of Film, an independent film sector trade publication founded in 1980, has died at her home in London next a short health issues. She was 71.
Educated in London, Tavares commenced her profession in publishing with U.K. nationwide Sunday newspaper The Observer, in which she discovered the printing and marketing sales enterprise. Her success there led to an appointment at U.K. trade publication Screen Global, where by she rose to the position of controlling director, restructuring the company and generating it into a successful business. It was subsequently obtained by a U.K. publishing dwelling.
Tavares’ practical experience in client, trade and nationwide newspaper publishing, coupled with her abilities in the worldwide movie marketplace, resulted in the founding of The Business of Movie with offices in London and Los Angeles. She prided herself in instigating new technologies and was the initial worldwide trade paper to shift to complete digital supply and introduce online interactivity amongst advertisers and readers.

Tavares was a member of the British Academy of Movie and Television Arts (BAFTA) and a founding member of Gals in Film, London. She is survived by her son and grandson.
